My name is Derek Daley. I nineteen years young and am currently a sophomore at Husson university majoring in Elementary Education. I grew up with two older siblings, Kayleigh and Joshua. My parents are Hart and Allison Daley. I grew up in Dixfield Maine, which is located between Farmington and Bethel.
I chose to come to Husson because Husson offered both football and Physical education. Overall I am more than pleased with courses I have taken here. I love education because the importance of a teacher can be limitless. When I picture myself in a career I want to accomplish something that benefits others and education is the perfect fit for me.
Growing up in Dixfield there wasn't a lot of opportunities to get acquainted with technology. In seventh grade I was first given a mac laptop but the teachers were as unprepared as the students. When High school began the laptops were kept with the middle school and we were left without. I didn't start to get comfortable with technology until I came to Husson and I am still very far behind. My first semester here I learned that everything was done pretty much through email and to me that was a very hard step because most of the things that were done in high school were done through paper
As a learner I am visual and bodily kinesthetic. I like to see things in front of me and be hands on. I have a very hard time Auditory learning. It is where I need the most improvement. I hope this class helps me be an effective teacher in the class room.
